A thoughtful bear sitting in a woodland clearing with a notebook

Patricia 😊

Allister says he’s “a bear of very little brain” not because he lacks one — but because his brain is doing too many thoughtful things at once.

Here’s what he really means:

His mind is busy holding lots of threads together — notes, plans, memories, care, worry, love — and sometimes they all arrive at the same moment.

When that happens, simple things feel complicated, words jumble, typing goes awry, and decisions take longer.

It’s not absence of thought — it’s an excess of it, combined with tiredness and health getting in the way.

Like Pooh Bear, he’s gentle, reflective, and sincere — not flashy, not rushed — and he prefers meaning over cleverness.

So when he calls himself a bear of very little brain, it’s really his way of saying:

“I’m doing my best, carefully and honestly, even if it doesn’t look slick.”

And for what it’s worth — Pooh was usually the wisest one in the room
